Slow Food Anglia in Turin
We are very pleased that some members of Slow Food Anglia will be visiting the Terre Madre Salone del Gusto in Turin later this September and will also be taking an active part in discussions and talks at various Slow Food venues in the city.Several Slow
Food Anglia members will be attending the Terre Madre Salone del Gusto in Turin and of course all members
of Slow Food in Anglia and in the UK are invited and we hope some more of our
members from our region will be able to make it to this fantastic event.
This year for the first time it is being held in buildings and open spaces right across the city of Turin and it is expected that over 500,000 visitors will attend this very popular and famous event. Shane Holland the Chair of Slow Food London and UK will be there and members of Slow Food Anglia will also be giving presentations and talks on East Anglian food and projects during this exciting event.
Slow Food Anglia already work closely with Slow food groups in Italy, including Slow Food Sicilia and Slow Food Marche and we will be presenting some of our work and projects as well as our cooperative projects with these groups at the Salone.
We are also starting to form links with Slow Food groups in Germany and Holland, this will be of increasing importance in the coming year as we are hoping for these groups to take part in our first dedicated Slow Food Anglia festival in Kings Lynn next May.
Slow Food Anglia recently finished a very important project, the granting of Presidia status to the Colchester Native oyster found off Mersea Island in Essex. Silvia our deputy in Anglia had worked for nearly a year on this project with Haward's oysters from Mersea Island and this is now only the fourth Presidia in the UK, and we will be presenting the project at events being held at the Salone.
There will be daily social media and photos sent back from Turin all during the four days that the event takes place and all of us in Slow Food Anglia are looking forward to this years event in Turin, and there are more details on the dedicated Terre Madre Salone del Gusto website
