Slow Food Anglia at Gusto Italia London 2016

Slow Food Anglia are very pleased to be invited to attend the prestigious Gusto Italia event held on November 7th and 8th in central London, this is to build on the very close links we now have with Slow Food Sicilia and other Slow Food groups in Italy.
Carmelo Carnevale the well known Sicilian chef has personally invited members of Slow Food Anglia to take part this year along with some of our fantastic East Anglian producers, he invited us to the event after Carmelo came to Norwich to take part in our own Slow Food festival there in August.
We also have been offered the opportunity to have one of our chef alliance members from the Anglia region to also come and take part at Gusto Italia on Monday 7th, and we are pleased that our new chef alliance member Mark Matless from Norwich who is a keen supporter of Slow food Anglia will be taking the opportunity to be part of our team.
The President of Slow Food Sicilia approached us eighteen months ago to form closer links with them and to work on joint projects including sustainable fish issues and the invitation to Gusto Italia is part of that on going collaboration with the Sicilian group.

Several members of Slow Food Anglia will be taking part at the event and we will also have three fantastic products from East Anglia at Gusto Italia, there will be saffron grown in north west Norfolk, chilli's grown near near Norwich and a goats cheese that is also produced near Norwich in Norfolk.
The saffron is produced by Sally Francis of Norfolk Saffron she is only one of two saffron growers in England and her English saffron is only produced in relatively small amounts, Sally will be busy with this years harvest so is unable to come to london, but we will be having her saffron products from the 2015 harvest on our Slow Food Anglia stand.
Debby from Chilli Fundamentals will be present, she moved to Norfolk in early 2016 where she started to grow her business again and she will be bringing a small selection of her chilli products, she grows the chilli's near Norwich and does all the bottling and sales by herself at present.
The goats cheese is from Fielding Cottage a small artisan cheese maker based in Honingham near Norwich, and their fine cheeses have won several awards in the World cheese awards, we will be having some of their lovely Norfolk Mardler cheese on our Slow Food Anglia stand.

We look forward to promoting this small selection of the best of East Anglian produce at the Gusto Italia event in London and to showing our Italian hosts some of the fantastic food that are produced in our region. East Anglia is a region of England which is mainly rural and we are proud to promote both our local foods and their producers at events like Gusto Italia throughout the year.
At Gusto Italia we will also be meeting many of the Italian chefs who are also members of Slow Food in Italy and hopefully we will be building even more links to Slow Food groups in that country.
As Gusto Italia with the APCI is a national event we have also contacted Slow Food London and Slow Food England and several members from these groups will now be taking part at the event with us, and all the Slow Food groups taking part, both from Anglia and from England are looking forward to being involved in Gusto Italia this year.
