Slow Food Anglia and half marathon in Cambridge
The annual half marathon held in Cambridge is held this year on Sunday 4th March and Slow Food Anglia will be present together with Big Barn who we now cooperate with to promote small food producers and businesses across East Anglia. Big Barn is also an active supporter of Slow Food in the UK and all of us at Slow Food Anglia are very pleased to be working with them in Cambridge on March 4th.
Our presence at this years Cambridge half marathon was facilitated by our new Slow Food UK Ark of taste coordinator Mark Matless who is also one of our Slow Food Anglia chef alliance members and is involved with providing food to both the runners and public at this years event.
Slow Food Anglia will be sharing a stand with Big Barn near the start of the run where there is expected to be over 9,000 participants as well as families and supporters of those taking part in the run.
The Cambridge half marathon began in 2012 with 3,000 competitors and has steadily grown in size and popularity with nearly 100% of the runners in 2017 saying they would race in the half marathon again in the future.

Slow Food Anglia has planned to help open a new Slow Food group to open in Cambridge for the past couple of years and we now in the position where we have several local people interested in setting up a group in the City and our participation in the Half Marathon will be to publicise this fact and to also spread the Slow Food message and the ethos of our organisation to the public and runners taking part.
We believe that a Cambridge group will be a valuable addition to our Slow Food groups in the Anglia region and we are planning to also hold a promotional social evening in Cambridge at the beginning of April together with a food and drink business that is already well known in the City.
We look forward to being part of this exciting event in Cambridge on Sunday March 4th and hope this is the first of many events that we in Slow Food Anglia will be able to hold with a new Slow Food Cambridge group in the City this year and also in future years.
